What is the current version of PHP being used in Wordpress

WordPress 7.0: Fully compatible with PHP 7.4 up to PHP 8.5 (Dropped support for PHP 7.2 and 7.3). You can use any version with the latest WordPress 7.0. I am using WordPress on PHP 7.4 and PHP 8.1. If you want to use it in the PHP 8.5 version, you can use it.

Here’s the important distinction:

Recommended: PHP 8.3+

WordPress 7.0 minimum supported: PHP 7.4

PHP 8.3: Fully supported by WordPress 6.4+

PHP 8.4: Fully supported by WordPress 6.8+

PHP 8.5: Fully supported by WordPress 6.9 and 7.0 Make WordPress

So, if you're setting up a new WordPress website today, PHP 8.3+ is the sensible baseline, while PHP 8.5 is supported by the latest WordPress versions.

One caveat: WordPress itself isn't "using" a single PHP version. Your hosting server determines which PHP version your particular WordPress site runs.
