The error “The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10): Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature “ is occurred when the main theme zip file is not specified content file or folder.
First of all, think about which type of error is this.
This is an error of no recognize files which means if we upload the theme zip file but under the zip file content files do not appear. All contents file in the subfolder of the main zip file.
Let's take an example –
The error package could not be installed because WordPress does not find the specified content file.
Suppose that, Hotel is the main zip file that we downloaded for our hotel website. We upload the zip file and it shows the error “The package could not be installed. “ that means we need to extract the main hotel zip file.
After extract the folder we find a hotel zip file inside the main hotel zip folder.
We need to upload that zip file from the hotel folder that is extracted.
Many times main theme zip file does not include the zip folder inside the main zip folder. We extract the main zip file and open all folders of the main folder. like the hotel is the main folder include a hotel that contains the contents. That is the main folder to upload. We need to convert it to a zip file and upload it.
Let's take with an example .
solution -
Step 1– Extract the theme zip file .
Step 2-
Open the folder and find out the main content folder that included all content if its already in a zip file then we do need nothing. If it is a simple folder than you need to convert it into a zip file .
Click right-click on it and click on send to and then click on a compress.
Step 3- Now refresh your web browser
Step 4- After refreshing the browser you need to upload the zip file that you have compressed.
